Background of the Cafe
Jeff and Lori Seitzinger opened the Black Dog Cafe in August of 1997. Jeff has a degree in culinary arts from Johnson and Wales University, located in Providence, Rhode Island. His working experience is highlighted by renowned restaurants such as The Restaurant at Doneckers, La Mirage, The Lantern Lodge and Windows on Steinman Park.

The Black Dog Cafe is named after Jeff and Lori's two black dogs, Nikki and Mandi. They say that a dog is a man's best friend. We know that this is true. We rescued Nikki from the Animal Rescue League in Reading, Pennsylvania. Nikki was an abused dog, and we are very happy to have her as part of our family. We got Mandi as a playmate for Nikki. Mandi was just a pup when we got her, and we hoped that she would reflect from Nikki who is a very smart dog. The two have lots of fun swimming in Lori's parents' pond and playing frisbee.

For those of you who may have been to this small town restaurant before it became the Black Dog Cafe, you may have noticed a very different look to the interior. All renovations and decorating were done by Jeff, Lori, family members and friends. We are very thankful for all of the support we have received in our restaurant endeavor. We hope that everyone feels comfortable and relaxed at the Black Dog Cafe and has an enjoyable evening.
